The Nashi Pear, Sand Pear, Apple Pear or Asian Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) or simply Bapple is a species of pear native to eastern Asia, where it is widely grown for its edible fruit. It is often referred to as the Korean Pear, Japanese Pear or Taiwan Pear. In India, the fruit is commonly known as Nashpati. Nashi pear usually means bred cultivars of Yamanashi. (Yamanashi is wild nashi pears whose fruits are inedible because there are small, hard and sour.) These are juicy, round pears that are shaped like apples. Because of the resemblance, they are sometimes known as "apple pears". They are a popular fruit, eaten as a thirst quencher. They are sweet on the tree and are eaten crisp.
Once reserved as a food to be served only to the wealthy and to Chinese nobles, Nashi pears have been grown, cultivated, and eaten for centuries. Little is known about their origin... it's estimated that they began appearing at least 3,000 years ago in China.
Nashi pears are a great source of dietary fiber, and they're also very high in potassium and other essential minerals. They contain nearly 10% of the USRDA for Vitamin C, and a high concentration of folates, which make up the Vitamin B complex group. These vitamins are essential for metabolic activity and red blood cell production.

I have done some research and have had trouble finding out the percentage of the various ingredients included in MonaVie. There are some user reviews at http://www.nutritionaltree.com/reviews/antioxidants/acai/monavie_monavie-acai-juice.aspx that indicate that others are having this problems as well ... how much Nashi Pear is included in Monavie?
Jillian;
I doubt you will find any information the quantity of ingredients in MonaVie. It would be hard for MonaVie to charge the $40-$45 price tag if you could buy brand name equivalent at your local Walmart. As long as they maintain brand "uniqueness" they can command the top price needed to support the Multi Level Marketing overhead.
Hey Roger,
My husband and I are beginning to use Monavie and have obviously signed on as Distributers in order to get the discount. (Like Arbonne) We don't have to sell it and probably won't. I've been researching it and the one thing that bothers me is that there is so much negativity regarding the lack of info. in terms of percentages of each fruit in the juice. What bothers me is that you can buy just Acai for signicificantly less, which is great. But, there is nothing else on the market where you can get the benefits of the Acai berry plus the benefits of all the other fruits. If you can get the equivalence of 13 servings of fruits and vegetables in one 4 ounce serving, that seems really good !! How many of us actually get 2 servings of fruits and veggies daily? So, with MonaVie you not only the antioxidants from the Acai berry, but you also get the benefits of all the other fruits that provide benefits such as lowering cholesteral and blood pressure. Also, Monavie Active has Glucosomine which is anti-inflametory. My parents are taking it along with a mulititude of other vitamins and minerals. We've talked to several people who are taking Monavie now, and in less than a month, they feel great. No aches and pains. They're sleeping better. They don't have that afternoon lull. I guess it seems like a pretty good product. I think the choice is choosing whether you just want a product that provides just Acai, or a product that provides Acai plus the benefit of 17 other amazing fruits that have been clinically proven to be necessary for overall health and well-being. What do you think?
I also use MonaVie, fortunately I can afford it. I also use Perfect Acai. I must admit I get the same benefit from just the Perfect Acai.
Monavie recommends 2oz of monavie per day. Please do not fool your self into thinking two ounces = 13 servings of fruit. Why not just drink apple juice for pennies an oz. Personally I am looking for the energy and antioxidant power of Acai. Monavie does not tell you how much Acai they contain - and never will. With Perfect Acai, I know its 100% pure Acai all the time.
I still enjoy MonaVie, and will use it while I can afford it, but be real about it, MonaVie is simply a very good, healthy juice cocktail.
I've been told by almost every rep, that the content of acai in monavie is between 30-35%. An exact amount is not given for obvious reason. I hope that everyone understands that 20,000mg of acai contained in Monavie's 30% is much more that the 1000mg found in most other acai products. Plus, how can you compare a liquid supplement the a pill? Even if each dose had an equal amount of acai per serving the absorbtion of the liquid supplement is going to double the absorbtion of the pill at LEAST. Further, most other acai products don't even use the entire fruit...Why? I don't know, but every part of the fruit has beneficial properties. Why not use it all? You also might notice that other 'liquid' competitors to Monavie use a clarification process that stips the drink of most of it nutrients to make it more drinkable... this makes sense if you can afford to drink twelve of these bottles a day. In my opinion, I'd just deal with the clumps. If you take a bite of fruit it's clumpy too. I'm not representing Monavie, I'm not a distributor, I can't even afford to drink the stuff. I just did the research for a class project. One of the members in my group is drinking it and shares it with the rest of us when we get together, I'm always looking foreward to Wednsdays. To wrap things up, I'd like to say to all of you... DO YOUR RESEARCH! Don't just look for the things that back up you product, because with a little due diligence you might find that you're being misled by sublties, and incomplete information.
I completely agree with your comment about doing your research. I think you should always research any supplement before paying hard earned cash.
I have read research that shows that freeze dried acai is better assimilated than juice - seems odd but it is true.
